SCOTT MCGREGOR

Scott is a well known media personality from 30 years of work as an actor, presenter and producer and has hosted numerous prime time TV programs which have tapped into his passions for Train Travel, History and the realm of the home handy-man.

Well known for his love of train travel through his nationally and internationally broadcast series of programs, Railway Adventures Across Australia and Down The Line, he’s also famous for bursting into peoples houses and doing vast makeovers in a weekend on the ratings hit Room For Improvement and for his DIY antics on Better Homes and Gardens. More recently however he has been seen on the History Channel hosting such programs as Australian Icon Towns and The Stamp Of Australia.

Author of two books,  Fix-It and Big Boys Toys he also owns and operates a luxury, railway themed getaway on the top of a mountain just north of Mudgee in central NSW which he built around a collection of beautifully appointed vintage railway carriages called Ruwenzori Retreat. 
 

IMPORTANT
Rail travel requires a certain level of fitness and mobility. As railway porters are virtually non-existent today, you must be able to handle your own luggage in the stations and on and off trains. Pack carefully and lightly!

ATTENTION SINGLE TRAVELLERS
For our great rail journeys - Royal India on the Maharajas’ Express (Nov 2010) and Istanbul to Berlin on the Danube Express (May 2011) - single travellers have the choice of a full single supplement (both in the hotels and on the trains) or a ‘partial single supplement’. With the latter option, you have the advantage of a single room in the hotels but share a twin-berth compartment for the train journeys - the savings are substantial.

In general, however, most sleeping accommodation on trains is in twin-, triple- and sometimes four-berth compartments. Single travellers should expect to share, unless otherwise stated in the detailed tour information.
