Every summer, the European dance scene moves to the south of France and Spain. Dance lovers can enjoy a spectacular array of classical ballet and contemporary dance from around the world, along with local companies such as Nacho Duato’s Compañía Nacional de Danza, the Spanish National Ballet (flamenco) and Angel Corella’s new national classical ballet of Spain.

When programs are announced in late 2008 we will choose from the best on offer at the festivals in Lyon, Marseille and Montpellier (France) and Granada, Las Palmas and Barcelona (Spain). In the meantime, mark this month in your diary!

TOUR LEADER:

KARL BURNETT

Karl Burnett was born and raised in London where at an early age he began his dance studies with Pamela Howard and a few years later completed his training at the Royal Ballet School.

He danced professionally for 13 years in many different companies and countries, appearing as a soloist or principal dancer in a wide variety of works. After a fulfilling dance career, Karl went on to complete the diploma of Benesh Movement Notation becoming a fully qualified choreologist and dance notator.
He went to Paris to work as assistant to the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj. He has had various engagements as Choreographic Assistant, Ballet Master, Répétiteur and Assistant Director with companies as varied as the Deutsche Oper Berlin to Aterballetto in Italy. Over the years different lines of work have taken him from La Scala Milan to the Mariinsky Theatre and from the Helsinki Opera to the Ankara State Opera.
As a guest teacher he has taught a wide range of companies from Nederlands Dans Theater to the National Ballet of Portugal.

A few years ago he set up his own internet based ‘artistic’ translation company.
